Co-parenting or dating. This article focuses on the modern-day relationships; co-parenting and dating as we discuss each. In this era, these forms of relationships have been incorporated in the society as dating shows have continued to be aired on our local television stations and most of our Kenyan celebrities have embraced the culture of co-parenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is co-parenting and dating?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Co-parenting is a form of relationship which involves critical thinking and mutual agreement between two consenting adults to take on the responsibility of taking care of their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
This can be as a result of a divorce whereby the two parties agree on raising their child apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dating on the other hand is a romantic relationship between two consenting adults which involves meeting in public places<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Probably to get to know one another as each other\u2019s future intimate partner. This could be seen as an early-stage to engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Varieties of Emotions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
For one to decide that they are going to co-parent with their former partner, takes a lot of emotional changes. One has to prepare their kids psychologically that they should get used to seeing their parents apart and also the arrangement for each on how to plan visitation days could be hectic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each parent has to fight for the best attention from their kid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dating on the other hand could be more stressful as one has to ponder various questions probably wondering if they are \u201cthe one\u201d. One has to be on their toes to impress the other. This is a stage whereby your life is in the hands of a stranger. Therefore, rightful judgement is the key to this stage of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kenya, co-parenting has been the norm mostly in the social scene. In particular, are Erick Omondi, a self-acclaimed Kenyan comedian, and Jackie Maribe, a top journalist in one of Kenya\u2019s largest media houses. The two who used to date back in 2014 got a baby boy together after which before he was born, the two parted ways. Although their co-parenting relationship is quite enviable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
