Before the Covid-19 pandemic struck in Kenya, not much was in the public about her. She is the current Health Chief Administrative Secretary, (CAS). She was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Before the appointment, she was the head of Health Financing and Health Economics at the Ministry of Health in Kenya. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also works as a Joint Secretary in the task-force on; Universal Health Coverage; one of the pillars of the Big Four Agenda by the Jubilee Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Mercy Mwangangi<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beauty and brains<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Her confidence, focus, composure is demonstrated each time she appears on the screen. She paints a picture of a woman who is well aware of what she is supposed to do in her profession. How she takes the questions from the journalists and her well-reasoned answers proves that she is an intelligent person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks to her Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Masters in Health Economics & Policy from the University of Adelaide in Australia. Her mother is a lawyer by profession while her father is a businessman. She has one sibling, her younger brother a photographer; who she says calls her after every press brief to correct her, tell her where to emphasize or what she could do better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her marital life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Mwangangi confesses that she is married to her work but in a relationship. Her focus is on her work-related assignments and is not under any pressure to settle down. From the time the Coronavirus came to Kenya, she has been spending most of her time working on how to help the ministry ‘flatten the curve’ which includes her time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She loves her job and would not complain of the task at hand, it takes all her attention now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CS Health and senior Health official<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fight against Covid-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n She is among the top Ministry of Health officials who are working hard to ensure the Corona Virus is contained in the country.
