It took long to tell the public her daughter suffered from, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM ), an inflammation of the brain and the spinal cord.
Numerous tests were done on Ivanna but the problem could not be identified. Meanwhile, Ivanna had stopped walking and talking, was not able to eat, and was not opening her eyes. And Betty suffered a depression and was undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

After four months in hospital the child recovered. Betty says Ivanna is now bolder, more confident and intelligent. She gives all the glory to God.
