This article focuses on makeup, their use, how society views women that wear makeup, and the effects of cosmetic use among women. Our main focus will be an old age saying that “A woman without paint is like food without salt”, by an ancient Roman Philosopher Plautus. (254-184 BC)
1. The History of Make-Ups
Makeup was first invented around 3100-2970 BC in Egypt. It has been largely accepted over the years among women. The motivation behind the use of makeups among the female nerds is to keep their skins hydrated and to avoid wrinkles from adverse weather conditions. Though not largely accepted, many women have adapted to the changing trends in cosmetology.
2. Makeup kits
A make-up kit is a huge investment for every woman who has a thing for make-up. The essentials of a basic make-up kit range from a Foundation palette for a preferred skin tone to eye shadows, a lipstick palette, and a mirror. With a good make-up kit, women can stay young and attractive, protect their skin from direct sun rays, and also enhance their appearances to make them more confident.
3. Psychological effects of Makeup on women
Make-up stimulates three of the five senses in a human body: touch, smell, and sight hence stimulating psychological pleasure. In re3cent times, women have confessed to wear make-ups for anxiety and to appear sociable in a variety of setups. Different cosmetic brands also concentrate on an emotional attachment through different textures of make-ups.
4. Make-ups bring a relieving effect
If one is restricted from wearing makeup, they are not given room to express themselves. Make-up makes teenage girls develop a sense of identity in society. Through make-up, most of these girls feel motivated and empowered. Make-ups can also help in the healing process for those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PSTDs).
Makeup helps enhance a woman’s facial expression. It helps boost the confidence of the one applying it. Some of the cosmetic commodities used as make-ups include foundation, eyeliners, eyeshadows, lipstick among others. Make-up can be used to highlight the features of the face according to the users’ preference.
Although makeup protects its wearer from harmful ultra-violet rays it can be harmful if applied in large quantities. Some of the harmful effects resulting from wearing makeup include acne, eye infections, hormonal imbalance, and skin allergies among others. To allow the skin cells to breathe and repair, one should avoid sleeping with their makeups on.
